REALTOR® Facing Industry Giants
Earlier this year when I got licensed, believe it or not I went toe to toe with a so-called top producer, and an agent at the big “Z”. You know them, they are allegedly big named and they are sopping up money from REALTORS® in exchange for leads? Doesn’t ring a bell? Ok, well. I signed up for an inquiry of a pro account and received a call from someone I’ll call Dan.
Dan and I was on the phone for a good 15-20 Minutes in a heated debate.
Dan: Well, If you invest ‘X’ amount of Dollars into your business, you will get XXX amount of a return.
Quornesha: Well, How do you know that I WILL, make that amount of money, I am not comfortable with a contract.
Dan: Well, It takes money to make money.
Quornesha: True but guess what, that is why I paid for my license and the classes to get here.
Dan: Ok, well (screaming at this point) what are your processes, and what have you done so far to get business?
Quornesha: I am NOT going to tell you that. I just know that ‘Z’ isn’t going to work for me. I don’t feel comfortable paying for leads that way.
Dan: I am your friend…why can’t you tell me?
Quornesha: HA, because I am NOT your friend. You do not know me at all. Let me ask you this, “Can you give me 10 methods that have made you successful that will work for me also? And don’t give me something that works for the average agent…I want something that will work specifically for me, that doesn’t involve door knocking and intruding into people’s privacy.
Dan: There are 1000’s of ways.
Quornesha: Ok, tell me, you said you were my friend.
Dan: You tell me first.
Quornesha: NO. You’re the big guy. You’re telling me what works for the average agent. I am not SOLD, on what you are spiel’ing so far.
Dan: (Yelling again), Ok, when would be a great time to call you back.
Quornesha: How about not at all. I am not even sure I want to work with ‘Z’ now or ever will in the future. Thanks for making that easier.
Dan: Well, Ok, I will speak to you again soon. (Narcissistic tone)
Quornesha: BYE.
This very same scenario happened to me with an NBA player who had retired due to a knee injury. And guess what, he threw the Law of attraction mumbo jumbo my way and I ranted right back, that’s not how it works. If I don’t feel good about what I am investing in, that doesn’t equate to me losing out. Long story short, He did the same thing to another group of ‘women’. And there was one who even cried saying, “I felt you”. You stood up to him. Additionally, I also went toe to toe with a “top producing” agent who was also meant to mentor me, instead, Laughed at my financial goals as an agent. Well, she is no longer around. Because I get to block out any and whatever negative vibrations that are trying to bring me down and not help me prosper.
The thing about me is I DO not prefer being backed into a corner to make a decision. If I don’t feel like something is right, I am most times, 99.9999% accurate about it.
I say that to say, Just because I am new doesn’t mean I am going to be taken to the cleaners. What’s meant for me is coming. What is mine I will have it. I’d rather wait on the will of Heaven, than to put my time and energy somewhere that is going to be used against me.
I declare and decree, I always trust my instincts. I am safe from those who would take my money. Those who are out for my least good. I am protected. My choices are mine alone and I make them with clarity. I easily escape people or things that are trying to manipulate me.
