Feng-Shui How to Buy Used Furniture for your ‘New’ Home
How to buy used furniture for your new home: Most teachings will tell you, Don't buy used furniture at all. But that is simply unrealistic when you are on a budget or you have maxed it out already. What can you buy used and what not to buy? Don't buy used office furniture, why? Because the office space is where YOU create your energy. So, do be sure to budget where you can get some low cost office furniture but make it new where possible.
Don't buy furniture from estate sales such as beds or mirrors. If you absolutely must, spritz it down with some ammonia based cleanser. Even if mirrors are new, always cleanse them before putting them up in your home. Ammonia is a great spiritual cleanser and you will need to remove the prior energy from it.
Used sofas are not so much heavy on energy, however, was the previous owner a couch potato? Were they always playing video games? Did they have affairs on this sofa? This may sound silly, but the same energy that was left on the sofa will come into your home. So do keep this in mind. No matter how you cleanse it.
Tables, tables are easier to buy used but keep in mind that it keeps and holds the energy of debt that was accumulated by previous owners.
Bar stool and chairs, were the previous owners alcoholics? did they gossip alot? You will need to leave chairs outdoors in the back of your home and sage it for a week (7 days straight) Old televisions are not a good idea as televisions hold old patterns and habits of the previous owners.
Old rugs or lightly used rugs...rugs, most of them are washable and you can air them out easily. And for Fengshui sake, please do not buy used trash cans. Every negative thing that took place in the home or the previous owner you will now have. No matter how you clean it. So, don't do it. If it is a city trash can, then no need to worry, keep it outside and not inside of your home. As far as old pots, and pans, buy them new. You do not want health issues in your family. If it is not something that is already passed down within the family, such as a cast iron skillet, do not buy it at a thrift store, estate sale, etc. All kitchen appliances and equipment must be new. Places such your local warehouse chains may have cheap options.
I hope this has been helpful. And remember, even though you may buy new furniture, it is up to us to keep good energy flowing into our homes. Whenever you need a spiritual home cleansing feel free to consult…
